National Insurance Record and State Pension Entitlement

If you have not already done so, we are recommending that people renew their National Insurance record as the deadline for filling any gaps in the contribution history since April 2006 is 5 April 2025.  Once this deadline passes, you will only be able to fill any gaps from the preceding six tax years.

The easiest way to check your National Insurance record is to access it online via:

www.gov.uk/check-national-insurance-record

People who have not previously registered for a Government Gateway account for personal affairs will need to create one as part of this process.
